Fleece and Sherpa Blanket Guide
Read the face and backing descriptions, choose your preferred surface and check coverage for the way you sit.

Separate the surface from the composition
Use surface descriptions to organize your shortlist, then verify the actual fiber percentages. A sherpa-style surface should not be assumed to be sheep wool. For a reversible item, ask whether the face and backing use the same fibers and whether its care instructions cover the complete blanket.
Write down both sides of a reversible blanket
Create a two-line record: the side you expect to touch your skin and the reverse. Add the stated fiber percentages to each, or mark the composition unresolved if the listing does not distinguish them. This is especially useful when a title mixes fleece and sherpa terms. Compare the complete blanket, including its edging, rather than judging it by one close-up photo.
A documented fleece example
Utopia’s Flannel Fleece Blanket 300GSM lists 100% polyester in the manufacturer data. That is one model-specific fact, not a conclusion about every item called fleece. Its 300GSM title does not establish a temperature rating, and we have not independently measured the fabric density.
Check the size for how you sit
A sofa throw should cover the part of your body you want to wrap while allowing you to move comfortably. Measure a blanket you already use rather than borrowing a bed-size label. If the throw will also serve a bed, compare both width and length against that second use.
Before choosing a plush surface
Decide which uncertainties matter: skin feel, snagging, shedding, or the appearance after laundering. These require model-specific evidence; a photo cannot establish them. We do not promise that the documented Utopia model avoids pilling or static.
- Verify face and backing composition.
- Confirm exact throw measurements.
- Obtain the allowed washing and drying instructions.
- Treat feel and durability as unresolved without evidence.
